Dinosaur Park Mural
Laurel, Maryland

This mural was originally created for the Maryland - National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) for the Dinosaur Park located in Laurel, Maryland. Working closely with paleontologist and Dinosaur Park Program Coordinator Ben Miller, the object of the mural is to illustrate the geography, flora and fauna of the area where the park is located today, as it theoretically would have been during the Cretaceous period.

As with many organizations, when the staff changes so can some theories and visions. When John-Paul Hodnett replaced Ben Miller at M-NCPPC, he had some new ideas and directions for the mural, so we updated it by including some different species and tweaking the look of others. What we have here is the melding of the two visions through my interpretive process.

The mural was created entirely digitally in Adobe Photoshop using a Wacom tablet and my 15" MacBook Pro and printed in sections on a large format printer. The final size is approximately 48" high x 100" wide.
