This
diorama (finished size = approx. 90"H x 70.5"W
x 70.5"D) is meant to represent agricultural practices
of the ancient Pueblo people in Frijoles canyon. The base
model (produced by Color-Ad, Inc.) shows a boy and a man
planting a waffle garden on the canyon floor with cavates
(cliff dwellings) cut into the canyon wall in the background.
My job was to create a two-sided mural that tied into the
model which would give a sense of the canyon receding into
the background. I painted the mural at half-size without
the use of the base model or mannequins.
